A Sending Out Into the New Year

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Psalm 119:105

As the year draws to a close, it’s a natural moment to pause, reflect, and consider where God has been leading us — and where He wants to take us next.

For me personally, this year has been a profound journey of marrying my love of music, technology, and the Lord into a joy-filled ministry of creativity.

Through songs created with the latest technology, I’ve been able to reach people who might never enter a church or read Christian material. Songs travel. Songs repeat. Songs repair hearts.

The Spirit has shown me that music can be a portable ministry, carrying hope, encouragement, and God’s Word into places we cannot always go ourselves. It’s a reminder that God can use every tool we have — our skills, passions, and even our hobbies — to touch lives.

Encountering God Through Faith, Trust, and Obedience

As I reflect on this year, I sense God leading me into deeper faith, fearless obedience, and a greater understanding of community. But encountering God is never passive. It requires intentional trust, listening, and obedience:

1. Trust

Trust begins with surrendering your plans and ambitions to God. Trusting God means believing that His ways are higher than ours, even when the path is unclear.

  • Take a moment in prayer: “Lord, I choose to trust You fully. Help me rest in Your plans even when I cannot see the outcome.”
  • Reflect: Where in your life have you been holding back from trusting God completely?

2. Listen

God often speaks in whispers, nudges, and moments of quiet conviction. Listening requires stillness, attentiveness, and openness to His voice above all others.

  • Take a moment in prayer: “Holy Spirit, open my ears and my heart. Teach me to recognize Your voice and follow Your leading.”
  • Reflect: Are there areas where God has been speaking that you have ignored or delayed responding to?

3. Obey

Faith without action is incomplete. Obedience may feel risky or uncomfortable, but it is the soil where God’s promises grow.

  • Take a moment in prayer: “Lord, give me courage to obey Your voice today. Let my life reflect Your love, grace, and truth.”
  • Reflect: What step of faith is God asking you to take in the new year?

Community as a Divine Gift

This year, God has also reminded me that community is not always something we find — it is something we steward, cultivate, and sometimes create.

Authentic spiritual relationships require attention, love, and care. When nurtured by God’s Spirit, they become channels of encouragement, accountability, and growth.

Whether you are part of a church, small group, or a circle of believers, consider: How can you faithfully steward your spiritual community in the coming year?

A Pause to Seek God Together

Before stepping into the new year, let’s pause. Let’s seek God’s face together. Take a moment to pray, listen, and surrender:

  • “Lord, show me where You are leading me this year.”
  • “Spirit, help me hear Your voice above all distractions.”
  • “Jesus, give me courage to obey and step into Your plans with joy.”

God’s heart is for us to love boldly, care deeply, and create faithfully. The coming year is a blank canvas, and He is inviting each of us to co-create with Him!

As we step into the new year, may our lives be marked by courage, faith, and joy. May the Spirit move freely through our music, our words, and our acts of love. And may we become channels of His life-giving presence in ways that surprise us — and bless the world.

Where is God leading you this year? Let’s pause, seek His face, and follow together.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
