But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Acts 1:8 ESV
For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.
1 Corinthians 4:20 ESV
Talk is cheap. We’re drowning in words that do not edify nor minister grace to the hearer. Worthless words should not be spoken. We will answer to God for every idle word we speak. Let’s commit to only speaking the truth in love. What do you think would happen if we did that? Probably a lot of silence.
The Biblical pattern for evangelism is that there is a demonstration of the Spirit’s power to authenticate that it is God’s message being preached. People get saved, healed and delivered when the Kingdom of God is at hand. It’s not a powerless message. We don’t serve a powerless God.
If you examine how Jesus did ministry and how He instructed His disciples to do ministry, it was always accompanied with miracles, signs and wonders. That’s what we’re supposed to walk in, too.
The devil wants to keep people in the dark with powerless Christianity. He has deceived some people into thinking that our faith is simply a code of ethics instead of a relationship with the Almighty who commissions us as vessels of His glory and power.
My friends, don’t be fooled, God doesn’t change. That’s not in His nature. The same power that raised Jesus from the grave lives in us, if you have been clothed in power by the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Without the power and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, your preaching and teaching will be ineffectual. It will merely be an intellectual pursuit with no power to transform people’s lives. We don’t need man’s thoughts. We need to hear what the Spirit is saying to His Church. That comes from spending time alone in the secret place communing with God.
We don’t need anymore powerless Christianity that is merely talk. We need a demonstration of the Spirit’s power. People need to be set free from demonic strongholds in their lives. People need to be healed from pain and suffering that have plagued them for years. Our God is able. Our obedience to do His will in the moment comes from spending hours praying and fasting.
What kind of Gospel do you preach? Preach the Kingdom and demonstrate its power. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
